CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR TECHNICAL AND VOCATIONAL EDUCATION TRAINING (TVET), DIPLOMA, CERTIFICATES AND HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS 2024

The Government of Kenya (Gok), through the State Department for the Blue Economy and Fisheries with support from the World Bank, KEMFSED project, which aims at supporting the country in its efforts to leverage emerging opportunities in the Blue Economy. The project is being implemented in five (5) participating counties that are riparian to the Indian Ocean along the Kenyan Coast with a goal to improve management of priority fisheries and mariculture and increase access to complementary livelihood activities. As part of the project’s development objective, a demand driven scholarship grants program is being implemented by the project under the Coastal Community Empowerment and Livelihoods Component. The aim is to strengthen longer-term capacity of the communities.

ELIGIBILTY FOR SCHOLARSHIP

·         Applicant must be a Kenyan citizen.

·         Must come from the specific project participating county’s benefiting wards/ fishing village.

·         Must be domiciled in that county for at least 10 years.

·         He/she must be below 35 years

·         For school drop outs he/she must demonstrate interest, able to express themselves in understandable language to be able to give back to the community.

·         For school leavers, he/she must demonstrate interest and have attained a minimum grade of at least 150marks in KCPE and D- in K.C.S.E

·         Must have admission letter from a registered TVET institution/ other institutions eligible to offer TVET courses.

·         Must be available for scholarship assessment and interview to be conducted by KEMFSED educational sub committee

·         Applicant must be from a fisher folk household, VMG or a VH who ascribe to BMU and fisheries regulations.

·         Must not be a beneficiary of any other continuing scholarship program.

 

 

·         Applications are open for both new and continuing students.

·         Continuing students must provide a performance report of the previous academic year, fee structure and fee statement.

·         Out of the total, 30% of the beneficiaries supported shall be from VMGs and 70% from Vulnerable Households who ascribe to Beach Management Unit (BMU) and fisheries regulations.

·         Applicable technical courses may include but not limited to; boat making, development of fishing gears, tailoring, carpentry, motor vehicle mechanics, plumbing, electrical wiring, building and other relevant fields

•         Must have scored at least grade C- in KCSE or have completed a certificate course from a recognized learning institution.

•         Must have obtained a college admission from recognized learning institution.

•         Must be a registered full-time student or a continuing student in a recognized learning institution.

•         Continuing students must provide a performance report of the previous academic year, fee structure and fee statement.

•         Must be below the age of 35 years

•         Must not be a beneficiary of any other continuing scholarship.

•         Must be available for scholarship assessment and interview conducted by the KEMFSED educational sub committee

•         Beneficiaries should furnish periodic progress reports to the CPC at the end of every semester

           

•         Must have scored grade C- or have completed a certificate course from a recognized learning institution for Diploma application.

•         Must have obtained a college admission from recognized learning institution with a maximum of two years of study

•         Continuing students must provide previous academic reports, fee structure and fee statement.

•         Must be a registered full-time student or a continuing student

•         Must be below 35 years of age.

•          Priority id given to VHs and VMGs

•          Should be students pursuing fisheries, aquaculture, natural resource management, community development and any other relevant courses to the coast region.

•        Must not be a beneficiary of other scholarship program

ELIGIBILITY FOR SCHOLARSHIP

•         Applicant must be a Kenyan citizen,

•         Must Come from the specific project participating County’s benefiting wards/ fishing village;

•         Must be domiciled in that County for at least 10 years;

•         Must be a continuing student (form 3 and form 4) with academic performance of above average i.e., C+ and above and must provide a performance report of the previous academic year and fee statement.

•         Must be below 25 years of age;

•         Priority will be given to beneficiaries from VMG and VH households.

•         Must not be a beneficiary of any other continuing scholarship program.

•         At least 30% of scholarships will be awarded to VMGs and 70% to the vulnerable households (VHs) who ascribe to Beach Management Unit (BMU) and fisheries regulations.

•         100% of the scholarships will be awarded to continuing students.

•         Parent/ Guardian should commit to meeting any other costs other than the tuition and statutory fee.
